Friendship Lessons

Remember a time in your life when you asked people to actually be your friend? Say it was Kindergarten, you walked up to the person in the playroom and bravely stated- "Will you be my friend". Then you transitioned into other years and the words didn't even need to be asked you just knew they were your friend. I remember in high school it would seem my friends at large would change with what season of sports we were in and it worked. College was a time when you made friendships with the people you never had in your high school. I hung out with the kids from the suburbs and that shopped at stores I had never hear of. Usually, those friends only lasted a year and I was always back to the core friends.

Now, I find myself out of college and sort of hanging on to some relationships that I can't quite figure out anymore. I have my "group" split into high school, college, and former co-workers or I would like to better classify as others. Most of the time I can meld the lines of these friends with no issue. Each grouping of friends matter, but maybe not each person in the group. When you reach a point like this do you follow a similar child like behavior and flat out ask if they want to be your friend anymore. Or do you face the reality and just leave the last words unsaid.

I found this article and wanted to share-
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=fickle-friends
As it discusses how the people that might not be a good friend effect you. (Thanks for sharing EEH).

Leave a comment as I am still undecided...

Memorable Memorial Weekend

Greetings! After losing my last blog post mid-air :( I have taken a cautious approach to where I write my posts. I feel like it should be a land activity so here I sit in my little apartment fresh off the holiday weekend. I can still smell the barbeque grills and hear the music from neighboring buildings it finally feels like summer might be coming!?

To share a little recap...I arrived home from CA on Thursday evening after mistakenly booking the wrong flight home. EEH grabbed me from the airport at 6 PM and then I realized I was key-less to the apartment. We decided to hit up the patio scene and caught a glimpse of the nice weather before the sun went down. Grabbed dinner with EEH and MSA then MDK kindly let me into our place around 10 PM. Whoops...will remember my keys next time??? This was the 2nd time this has happened so far.

Friday was a great evening and night! My college girlfriends and I visited Yum! for some delicious dinner and enjoyed some wine. Then the return of DJC and KMC to MPLS was the focus of the celebration. We tried some cheese, shared some laughs, and traded pet stories at our apartment. Then the clock struck 11 PM and we were on our way out to Moto-i. We met with MSA (or @custymcnoob) and @TweeterReprise and camped out in the prime leather couch section of the bar. Great sake and a fun night welcoming back the C's :)

Here are some pics from the night courtesy of KMC:

Saturday we ventured out to Wisco and decided that Valentina was in need of road trip. At first she was doing good, but we wanted to get her a special little carrier since we knew that it wasn't likely she would stay good. We opted for the plush, top of line "your cat will feel calm" carrier....LIES!!
She doesn't look happy, but I promise she got stairs to climb and birds to watch at my parents house!! After a little ran my dad and MDK finished their golf game and we headed back. And by the looks of it below I don't she minds being a city kitty...

On Sunday I laid low and enjoyed my apartment that I rarely get to see anymore. MDK played golf again and then we welcomed ERA to town. Another night of dinner and drinks in Uptown was a great Sunday evening event.

Monday, we 3 friends headed out to a Welcome Home party for DJC and spent the nicest day of the weekend with margaritas in hand, hanging out on a deck. Last stop, was to welcome my newlywed friends into their new home with a champagne toast.

Cheers to the long weekend and hope every had a nice day!!

Happy 25th to EEH

This post is for EEH on the day of his 25th year of being alive! EEH and I met my first year at the U of M (6 + years ago). We spent a year as roommates in this big dump of a house. We have traveled to the Big Apple and rocked Euro together. He is an awesome friend, great travel buddy, and will never forget the support he has provided for me. I appreciate his passion for his education, learning, and I can't wait to see where he is in another 25th years.

Cheers to you EEH!

Have a nice day!!

I Miss my TV

I spend every week at the Spring Hill Suites in Modesto, CA it is my hotel when I am not home. It is not my home away from home, in fact I spend as little time there as I can. I take pilates class, visit the wine bar, go see my friends at Gorgeous Nails, and maybe swing by the mall. Anything just to stay out and busy even if it means spending a few bucks. This is mostly due to the fact that my hotel room is boring....and has no GOOD CHANNELS!!

I am also a Twitter junkie and follow all the reality stars from the shows I like (mostly Housewives :)). It is torture reading their tweets during the episodes knowing that I can't watch it until I return to MPLS and find it on my DVR. So to make a stand against the hotel that literally has no female friendly options I decided to fill out a couple of comment cards pleading for the addition of E!, Bravo, MTV, and HGTV or at least one of these channels!!

I will be traveling to this same hotel until November so I will keep you updated on my progress of getting some better TV!!

Have a nice day!!

Cinco de Mayo!

As a celebration to the great May holiday of Cinco De Mayo... I decided to post some pictures from our fun last year. Above is MDK rocking a Curevo hat and a nice little jacket for his Corona.

SBP and RTS also joined us last year! They are a fun couple that we have spent a number of nights at Legends with (most of the time Legends wins). Also, we will be celebrating their upcoming wedding in July this year! Cheers to them :)
And finally MDK and me...looking silly. This Cinco de Mayo I will be fast asleep in the arms of Boeing 757 making my way home to MPLS.

So hope everyone that gets to celebrate has a nice day!!

Happy May

After a discouraging day yesterday I have decided that I want to post about things that make me happy to encourage myself to have a nice day!!

First event that makes me happy- the return of DJC!!

The above picture is courtesy of the local Clarksville, TN paper where KMC and DJC (http://dcocch.wordpress.com/) reunited and now live. He served in Afghanistan from October until April and I am very happy to see his safe return.

Second event- KMC and DJC when they come to visit the end of this month for Memorial Day!! We will be making a trip to Legends where we have been known make bank playing bingo as seen below. And likely drinking a fair amount of beers as we enjoy some MN May sun???....I hope. I am also going to take a few days off work around that weekend so that I can stay in MN for as long as possible during their visit.

Third event---graduation celebration for KJL aka Little Sister up in Duluth, MN. After a fun few years at college, she will be a surgical tech nurse now and on the prowl for a job. Go Little Sister Go!!

Oh and importantly this weekends event- Mom's Day! Here is a pic of me and my mom! She is a very helpful, supporting, and loving woman. So thank you to her for everything!!

Thanks and have a nice day now!
