Work Annoyance

This is not my first day at the rodeo on the work front...though I haven't worked for 39 years and seen it all like some many others supposedly have I have seen enough and can confidently saw people turn into animals around free food.

People are always early for lunch meetings because they know the food comes before noon and if they aren't there first they could possibly miss out on the free $5 cold cut. What a money saver!! Then the free lunch hoarders are even worse. Even though the food is free, eating 4 pieces of pizza doesn't mean that is "free" of calories...

I mean don't get me wrong I enjoy free things, but I don't need to behave like a homeless person around colleagues just to make sure I get all that I can out of a company provided lunch. Eating your salary in calories isn't a way to get back at your company for not promoting you...

Just a few thoughts...

Have a nice day!

KMC is 24!!

Vintage pic of little KMC

I mentioned her birthday in an earlier post about last weekend's fun...but, she deserves her very own as well. KMC of Adventures of D & K @ http://dcocch.wordpress.com/ celebrated her 24th birthday on Friday of last week. She spent her birthday on the road moving to Clarksville, Tennessee so we were unable to have a full celebration this year. None the less, she has some exciting things awaiting her in TN like her husband coming home from Afghanistan!! He has been deployed since October so we are all anxiously awaiting his return. I am proud of my friend for her strengthen over the last months and know she can look forward to having a great 24th year.

Cheers to you KMC!

Have a nice day readers...

I Love My Cat

Her name is Valentina and she has been mine for 2 years making her approximately 3 1/2 years old!! I remember when I met her at the PetSmart...she was the tiniest, grayest, and most precious little one there. And within 2 days after first seeing her I went back to buy her even though I wasn't really looking for a cat...she was different and still is...haha!

This weekend when the rest of the world was celebrating Easter, Tina (as she goes by for short and if you text it too fast it auto-corrects to Tuna) spent the weekend being a cat or attempting to be. She really is not the best example of a cat because she doesn't meow...she more or less whines. If she does not feel happy or can't find us it seems she starts almost crying in a cat like way. I often say it is her world and we just live in it as climbs all over me in bed or on the couch.

Here are some photos from Easter weekend with lil' miss Tina :)

Above she is looking at a peep and trying to figure out if it's alive!!

Here she is with a little Easter gift and her new friend funny bunny

Look at those eyes...not sure she is interested in this photo session

And now she is ready to lay down and call it a night...

Sorry if you aren't a cat lover...but, you must admit she is a cutie!!

Have a nice day!!

Typing Skills

I am not all that old. But I remember when it was profitable to be good at typing because you could work faster and it sounded better to others. For real, when you pound on a keyboard it does not sound nice. Perhaps because younger generations are practically being raised on a computer, typing classes no longer exist in school programs. I remember taking typing classes and it paid off. Because I don't sound like an annoying person when I type.

Bottom line, typing with all fingers is correct and if you are over 40 years of age please try and type with all your fingers....for my ears and yours.

Great, have a nice day!

Weekend Recap

For the strangers to my blog, I will explain a little bit about my current situation. In July of last year, I joined a consulting company after a stint in the corporate world. With this consulting role comes travel and my current project takes me to Modesto, CA every week. So I cherish my weekends in my little apartment with my attempt at a real life.

Yet...as life goes this weekend brought unexpected joys!!! To begin, I was really looking forward to spending my Friday night with my best friend KMC of Adventures of D & K @ http://dcocch.wordpress.com/ as an early little birthday party for her. We drove out to our small little town (grew up together) and sat around chatting at my parent's kitchen table like we have done for many years now. Then I got the call...flat tire on my car :(. I started learning some very interesting aspects of my Passat that I didn't know it had like anti-theft lug nuts?? Some special key was missing so we were stuck with no option of getting the tire off. After one failed then a successful attempt to use KMC's AAA account we received a tow truck at 1 AM. They couldn't help...we left the car at the gas station parking lot and maybe went to bed around 2:30 AM.

Saturday....couldn't sleep in as late MDK and I prefer (I blame mine on jet lag :)) because we had to go back to the car. We called the VW dealership and got the word that they needed to have the car to see which special key the darn thing needed. This meant it had to be towed...as seen below...

It was strange to see the car riding along on the truck. I was happy the dealership was able to fix the car that day and though it was not a planned expense I like knowing that things are all back on the A-OKAY!! Sorry KMC and thanks for dragging MDK and I around.

For Saturday evening we decided to not drive quite as far and skipped last minute plans for the casino to watch Inception. WOW!! I liked it and would suggest it. Leonardo DiCaprio is my fav ever since Titanic :)

Sunday we did a quick lunch at Brasa would also suggest that. I usually fly out in the afternoons on Sunday and watch TV on the plane. I caught an episode of the Amazing Race and decided I am applying.

I am going to apply with my friend EEH as we have traveled together before and always enjoy it. Here we are in Brussels together. I think we look like we belong on the race...I mean look at us carrying those backpacks and eating our Belgian waffle...multitasking!! Think we can do it??

Airport Randomness

I have some time on my hands and I wanted to share a few feelings as of today----

Airports are weird. I have asked many people whether they think a hospital is more depressing or is an airport? Think about it for a minute though. Would you really want to run into someone you knew at the airport? Remember what you decided felt 'comfy' and remember that you used gum to brush your teeth with today. Not to mention what happens to people when they are told they are DELAYED. It is as close to saying your kid is failing kindergarten...people really freak out.

I have not and will not experience flawless travel and because of that I turn to prescription drugs. I mean let's be realistic who can handle sitting in huge, tacky carpeted terminal with a bunch of strangers just staring. Yes, staring. We pretend we are working, listening to music, or reading. But, really everyone is just staring at one another and judging---

"Doesn't look like a real Vuitton"
"Did he really just say that on the phone"
"What are those....ummm....PANTS?!"

Further, Smart Phones are the new watches. I recently told a friend about how I didn't even know that I hadn't adjusted my watch to PST because I didn't have to look at it anymore while passing a stranger in the hall at the office. People can easily just keep clicking 'contacts' for all we know...but at least they are pretending for 10 short seconds not to stare.

This is just the start of my traveling blogs...some can call it complaining, but I am just trying to point out some of the obvious. Also, I am trying to learn how to 'deal' with it all to so lets just try to have a nice flight...I mean DAY :)

About me...

So, when I decided to make my account and fill out the profile I encountered one slight problem. I found it extremely difficult to fill out the "About Me" section. I don't have a Facebook account and have about a 2 line preview on my Twitter account so not really a bio. I had nothing to steal any ideas from. I couldn't even plagiarize myself?!

Then I realized...I have not actually wrote down an 'about me' in a very long time. Possibly college applications going on 6 years ago where I really had to divulge those positive insights into the package I was selling. Well since I have made it past college and actually a few jobs already you would think I could put something together about ME...but, truth is I am more of fragmented, random insights kind of girl.

Here is where I will start-----strengths: inquisitive and driven. Major weakness is never seeming to feel content. Very much enjoy making friends and socializing whenever possible. This leads to double or even triple booking myself. Frequently late for things and I mean most things. Tendencies of OCD when it comes to cleaning and a gripping need to fluff the pillows and rearrange them before bed. I enjoy taking chances and learning more as I go. I am huge night owl and often get criticized for my late night vacuuming. I used to like dancing as well until I was told I danced like a mom....ouch! I enjoy being an integrable person and having an opinion. I love a good argument. And lastly, I love attention, love, and providing 'things' for others...and myself too!

Well friends....I gave it a shot!

Let me know what I forgot and remember----Have a Nice Day!

My First Post

Greetings Interweblings!!

After much research and inspiration (thank you fellow bloggers) I have decided to start my own blog. I plan on sharing a few stories, opinions here and there, and tips to help everyone...Have a Nice Day :)

To explain the title I will begin with my a little bit of my background, I would consider myself a mixed-breed. Meaning, I am not all country, suburban, or urban-but rather a little bit of each one. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and like any other young girl I enjoyed the fine entertainment offerings of WWF...before it went WWE. Monday Night Raw, Smack Down, Summer Slam...my friends and I ate it up! We liked that one of our dad's looked like Stone Cold and that we practiced choke slamming on the snow banks. Nonetheless, my favorite wrestler for a window of time was Mick Foley and his phrase "Have a nice day!". Around that same time the Yahoo! Mail and MSN messenger were pleading for my attention. When I needed to create a password I went with- haveaniceday. It was easy to remember---favorite wrestler etc...

Fast forward 12 years later...I have phased in new passwords, moved to Minneapolis, and started my career. Yet, the fundamental phrase of "Have a Nice Day" has more of meaning now then it did on the silly TV show and by being my old password. It is an inspiring and empowering way of greeting friends, family, and strangers. So I wanted it as the title to my blog to remind everyone to think about having a nice day.

Thanks for listening!!
